Plastic Free Pet Owners?

A dear friend of mine who lives across the hall asked me to take care of her fish this semester. I am so happy to have Rosie Cotton as a roommate...but Rosie does come with a few plastic compromises.

Thankfully these fish food containers are packed pretty densely and will last me over a year, but it does make me wonder if its possible to feed a care for a fish without having to buy into products and chemicals wrapped in plastic.
